Verification standards

Every counterparty passes the same procedure.

Before Atlas Grey introduces or represents any party — upstream or downstream — they pass our internal due-diligence procedure. The procedure declines counterparties who fail any element of these checks. It is not negotiated.

Incorporation & standing

Certificate of incorporation and current good standing with the relevant registrar.

Operative licences

Mineral dealer’s licence, export approval, or import licence as applicable in the counterparty’s jurisdiction.

Beneficial-owner KYC

Company-officer identification, source-of-funds clarity, beneficial ownership disclosure.

Sanctions screening

Screening against OFAC (United States), UN Security Council, EU, and UK consolidated lists.

Bank reference

Bank reference letter or transactional history attestation from the counterparty’s banking partner.

Operational references

Industry references confirming operational track record and counterparty reputation.

Responsible sourcing is a procedure, not a phrase.

Responsible gold sourcing means applying the OECD Due Diligence Guidance to every parcel, every counterparty, every time — not citing it in a footer. In practice that means documented origin before consolidation, screening of miners and sellers against the red flags the Guidance defines, smelting only at vetted facilities, and a chain-of-custody file that travels with the gold.

Buyers with their own compliance obligations — refiners under LBMA programmes, jewellery houses under RJC, family offices under internal mandates — receive documentation built to drop into their existing frameworks.

East African gold can be sourced responsibly at commercial scale; it requires a counterparty willing to be audited rather than merely trusted. That is the standard we hold, and the one we invite qualified buyers to test.
